Hope Valley Cemetery

Hope Valley Cemetery, managed on behalf of the City of Tea Tree Gully, is located in the area's earliest settlement, established when William Holden purchased the main allotment in 1841. In 1849, Holden formed a committee to establish a school in the area, purchasing one acre of land on Grand Junction Road which was divided into three sections: a schoolhouse, cemetery, and playground. The cemetery, positioned behind the school, became the final resting place for many of the area's early settlers, particularly the German and Wendish families who settled in Hope Valley during the 1840s and 1850s to escape religious persecution. Today, the old section of the cemetery continues to preserve the graves and memories of those who shaped Hope Valley and the broader Tea Tree Gully region.

Hope Valley Cemetery currently has no new burial sites available for purchase, however there are multiple cremation options available for purchase for immediate interments as well as preplanning. For any families that have current plots we can also assist with information surrounding future interments, transfers of interment rights or renewals.
