As a symbol of unity with other children whose lives were brief, the names of babies and children buried in this cemetery without memorial or epitaph have been inscribed by local craftsmen onto stone tablets set within the garden.
The tranquillity of the garden creates a place for quiet reflection, and the bronze pelican feeding her young symbolises the care and nurture expressed in loving families for their children.
Cremation Memorials for babies and children are available in the Children’s Memorial Garden, and a special area for adult cremation memorials is set aside in Caroline Gardens facing the Children’s Memorial Garden.
Enquiries for memorials in the Children’s Memorial Garden and Caroline Gardens should be made at the cemetery office.
